QUEEN'S 5K 2006 29th March
Over 20 club members lined up for the Queen's 5K on the Ormeau Embankment in cold windy conditions. Club Captain raymond Adams made a rare appearance off the track and produced an excellent run to finish 11th and help the men's team to their best ever placing in 7th. The women retained their team title with only Rona Harkens remainin from last years team. Jill Shannon was a clear winner of the ladies race with Suzanne in third. Year 8 pupil Caite Wright showed her great potential for the future by breaking 24 minutes. Kate Montgomery did run but her official result is not yet known.

QUEEN'S 5K 130405
Lagan Valley women continued their successful season by lifting the team tile at the Queen's 5K around the Annadale Embankment Course. With Catriona running for Queen's and Suzanne and Jill saving their efforts for the Laganside 10K on Sunday the winning team was comprised of Julie Murphy, Wendy Davis, Rona Harkens and Ruth Magill. The latter two also won their age categories and Fionulla McCourt also made the prizes with runner up in the W45 category. Special mention has to go to Caite Wright who ran 24:08 - not bad for someone still at Primary School.

LARNE HALF MARATHON 020405
Suzanne McCormick was the star of the Larne Half Marathon when she won the women's race in an excellent 83:00. Suzanne chased early leader Anne Paul for the first half of the race along the Antrim Coast Road closing the gap over the very tough hill section in the middle. As they hit the sea front for the last five miles Suzanne moved away and fought a strong headwind all the way back to win by over 30 seconds. Suzanne also ran the first leg of the relay handing over to Ruth Magill for the hills who in turn sent Fionulla McCourt off on the final leg for a clear victory with only one all male team in front of them. Terry Eakin used the event for a final long easy run before the London Marathon but still won his age category with ease in 87:54. The Montgomery family of Eric, Dawn and Kate ran as a relay team and won the mixed team event with mum and dad taking the easy flat stages leaving poor Dawn to tackle the hills. Former clum member Andrea McAuley also produced an excellent performance in 103:58 - time to get the vest on again Andrea.
Suzanne McCormick 83:00; David Wright 85:29; Terry Eakin 87:54; Paul Calvert 89:01; Fred Hamond 97:37; Hazel Hunter 117:08 (two weeks after Barcelona Marathon!!!)
YOUNG ATHLETES CHAMPIONSHIPS 2004
The Lagan Valley young hopefuls were in great form at the Northern Ireland and Ulster Age Group Championships at the Antrim Stadium on the weekend of 19th/20th June. The accumulated haul of medals amounted to 13 GOLD, 11 SILVER and 8 BRONZE with 23 athletes taking the SKY BLUE and NAVY Vests on to the podium. There was double GOLD for ROWENA FAIR and JASON HARVEY with the latter producing a magnificent jump of 1.73 metres in the High Jump.

MULTI EVENT CHAMPIONSHIPS 2004
Rowena Fair was the clubs leading competitor at the Northern Ireland Multi Events Championships held at the Antrm Stadium on 7/8 August. Rowena took Gold in the 1986/1987/1988 Category. There were also Bronze medlas for Laura Frey and Emma Lewis in their age groups. Emma was particularly unfortunate to fall twie in her hurdles event which almost certainly robbed her of the Gold Medal. The clash with the Celtic International deprived a number of athletes from the opportunity of competing especially Jason Harvey who would have almost certainly retained his tille.
YOUNG ATHLETES LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 2004
Lagan Valley Young Athletes confirmed their outstanding reputation with their performances at the Antrim Forum on Saturday. The Lagan Valley Girls took the League Title for the fourteenth consecutive year and will go to Birmingham on September 4th. The Boys exceeded all expectations by finishing a magnificent second.
NORTHERN IRELAND VETS CHAMPS 2004
The Lagan Valley vets. (thats age not animal doctors) comted with distinction in the recent Northern Ireland Veterans Championships taking a total of fifteen medals including eight gold. Double Gold medals went to Rhona Harkness and Ruth Magill with Terry Eakins, Nicky McWilliams, Joe Frey and John T.Glover taking one each. There were also medals for Andrew Shields.
MAZDA LEAGUE FINAL 2004
The Lagan Valley girls competed in the final of the Mazda All Ireland Premier League and sadly finished eighth. This is no reflection on the athletes who travelled and produced some excellent performances but we were just missing too many of our regular senior athletes for a variety of reasons.
